GREIM X Kustom Skis

GREIM X Kustom Skis

At Kustom Skis, we have always believed that technical equipment can make the difference between an efficient rescue and a critical situation in the mountains. That’s why we are especially proud to announce a major milestone for our brand: we have developed and manufactured the touring skis used by the GREIM (Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group) of the Guardia Civil in their winter operations.

The trust of true experts

GREIM represents the elite of mountain rescue in Spain. Their physical, technical, and mental preparation is built to withstand the most demanding environments: snow, ice, fog, steep slopes, difficult access routes… Every minute counts, and the equipment they use must be worthy of that responsibility.
For Kustom Skis, it is an honor that they have placed their trust in our products for their rescue and support missions.

What does it mean to develop skis for GREIM?

Designing skis for a rescue unit like GREIM goes far beyond recreational or sport skiing. It requires responding to a set of highly specific technical demands:

• Lightness and strength: to ensure mobility with minimal effort, without compromising durability.
• Performance in all types of snow: from powder to crust, ice, or transformed snow.
• Reliability in extreme conditions: low temperatures, intensive use, carrying loads, long approaches…
• Adaptability to professional ski-mountaineering: compatibility with tech bindings, climbing skins, and maneuverability in mixed terrain.

At Kustom, we combine years of handcrafted manufacturing experience with innovation in high-performance materials, allowing us to meet these needs with precision.

A development process worthy of the challenge

To reach the final ski model now used by GREIM, we at Kustom Skis followed a demanding path—just like the mountain itself. We knew a good product wouldn’t be enough: it had to be the best possible ski for their mission.

The process included creating three different prototypes, each one refined through real testing in harsh winter conditions. With every iteration, we adjusted key elements:

• Structural reinforcements: we tested different carbon-fiber configurations to achieve the perfect balance between stiffness, lightness, and torsional strength.
• Top sheets: we tried various materials and finishes to ensure durability under intensive use and extreme environments, without sacrificing performance or grip.
• Continuous feedback: we worked directly with GREIM professionals, integrating their field experience and suggestions after every test session.

Each image accompanying this blog reflects a phase of the development process, showing the evolution of the ski—from the early concepts to the final model, the result of merging precision engineering with real-world expertise.

This process not only allowed us to perfect the product; it reinforced our commitment to continuous improvement and confirmed something we’ve always believed: when you listen to the end user and test in real conditions, the results are unbeatable.

Beyond the product: a partnership that reflects shared values

This collaboration with GREIM is not only a technical validation, but also an alliance built on shared values: commitment, reliability, preparation, respect for the mountain, and a vocation for service.
Knowing that a unit like GREIM chooses our skis is a clear sign that what we build not only performs, but truly makes a difference when it matters most.

A new milestone in our journey

This project marks a turning point for us. It pushes us to continue evolving—designing and manufacturing top-tier technical equipment not only for demanding athletes, but also for professionals who must rely fully on their gear.

At Kustom Skis, we don’t just make skis. We create precision tools for those who challenge the limits of the mountain every day.
