How is a KUSTOM® manufactured?

Cómo se fabrica un KUSTOM®?

We want to share a fact you've probably never considered: every pair of Kustom skis you see on the snow spent several days in our hands before leaving the factory, right here in Granada. There are no automated production lines or shortcuts, just people who love this sport and know what it means to have a ski you can trust completely.

It all starts with wood

Each Kustom core is cut individually using carefully selected woods by our craftsmen. This material is the heart of the ski, giving it its unique character and, above all, that perfect balance between agility and stability. By making it ourselves, we can ensure that the core is perfectly optimized for the ski it will form. We don't settle for third-party or generic cores.

They look good. They feel better.

The topsheets, which we print in our factory, reflect our style and the Kustom spirit. But the design isn't just on the surface: underneath are layers upon layers of composite materials and resins, ensuring the ski responds as it should in every turn, jump, or landing.

Layer by layer: The artisanal process

We assemble the skis layer by layer, like a sandwich, combining all the materials we have carefully chosen:

  • Triaxial fiberglass, to add stiffness and control.
  • Reinforcements at key points to ensure durability.
  • Steel edges, because we know you need grip even in the most challenging conditions.

Everything is assembled by hand, ensuring that every piece is where it needs to be.

From the press to perfection

Once assembled, the ski goes through the press, where heat and pressure transform it into a single, solid structure. This is one of the most important moments in the process: it's here that the ski acquires its flex, shape, and character. Timing is crucial: an error in the pressing could compromise the ski's integrity. That's why this process is always carefully supervised by our most experienced craftsmen.

The final details are everything

Finally, we move on to the finishing touches:

  • The edges are polished to ensure precision and smooth sliding.
  • We sanded and shaped the base, leaving it ready to slide perfectly on any type of snow.

And just before the ski is ready to leave the factory, we give it that final check. Because here, we don't let anything less than perfect bear our logo.

Making a Kustom isn't just a job for us. It's our way of ensuring that, when you're on the mountain, you have gear you can absolutely rely on.
